Business Manager Opening

 

Maternity BVM Catholic Church is currently seeking a qualified applicant to serve as

Business Manager. 

The business manager is responsible for collaborating with the pastor

in the management of the physical, human, and financial resources of the parish.  

 

We seek a person of integrity who is a practicing Catholic

and committed to Gospel values and enthusiastic in their support of the

Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Maternity BVM Church.

The Business Manager is responsible for the business and financial management

of the parish and applies professional skills and knowledge over several specialized fields

including accounting, IT, human resources, and business management

to perform work without specific direction and uses prudent judgment. 

 

The Business Manager is responsible for collaborating with the Finance Committee

in managing the finances of the parish and for providing reports and preparing a budget. 

Further, the Business Manager collaborates with parish staff and parish committees

in overseeing ministry budgets and working with the director of maintenance

to manage buildings, grounds and equipment.

Business Manager Qualifications

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or above with concentration in business.

Strong knowledge of Accounting Principles

Strong Computer skills and IT Administration

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams

Must successfully pass a background check and youth protection training

Enthusiasm for the mission, vision, and values of Maternity BVM Church.

 

NECESSARY CHARACTER TRAITS:

Ability to present oneself professionally

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to set priorities and effective organization skills

Possess strong communication skills written and oral

Ability to be flexible for tasks outside of normal business hours

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

3-5 years experience in business management, accounting or related fields

Advanced degree in Business Administration

Experience in ParishSoft, PDS Database and Paylocity

 

ACCOUNTING DUTIES

                Account Receivables

                                Process Deposits

                                Assist Collection Counting teams

                                Manage ACH Donations

                                Manage on-line donations and fees

                Accounts Payable

                                Pay Invoices and keep records of payments

                                Facilitate Raffles – Pay Winners, prepare Federal & State Reports

                General Ledger

                                Enter Journal Entries

                                Review financial statements and close accounts monthly

                                Prepare Yearly Budgets in conjunction with Finance Committee

                                Manage & Reconcile Bank Accounts

                Reporting

                                Produce Reports for: Pastor, Finance Committee, Parish Council, Diocese & Parishioners

                                Prepare Federal & State annual reports

                                Attend Parish Finance Committee meetings

                                Facilitate audits

 

 

 

HUMAN RESOURCES and PAYROLL

                Liaison between parish employees and Diocese HR, Insurance, 403(b) and Pension

                Maintain Personnel Records

                Prepare 24 payrolls per year, manage updates, keep time records

 

IT AND PHONE ADMINISTRATION

                Contact Person for IT Provider; coordinate & schedule all IT updates, service calls, purchases

                Administrator for: PDS, WeShare, Stripe

 

OTHER DUTIES

                Attend 3-4 Diocesan Business Manager Meetings per year

                Property Insurance Contact

                Work with Parishioners, Heads of Committees, Salespersons, Parish Council members,

                                 Finance Committee Members, etc.

                Assist Pastor in Administrative Matters 

 

OFFICE HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT –

This is a full-time benefited exempt position. The typical work week will average 40 hours, not including lunch break.

With continual communication with the Pastor, some of those hours may also be completed remotely.  

Further, the Business Manager would be expected to attend occasional evening meetings. 

 

The Business Manager would be expected to be present Monday-Friday from 9:00 – 3:00 pm and may fill in other hours from home or outside of those hours.  Further, the Business Manager would be expected to attend occasional evening meetings.
