Job Description – Business Manager
Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Church of the Diocese of Joliet Located in Bourbonnais, IL in Kankakee County, in the southern exurbs of Chicago.
We are currently seeking a qualified applicant to serve as Business Manager.
The business manager is responsible for collaborating with the pastor in the management of the physical, human, and financial resources of the parish.
We seek a person of integrity who is a practicing Catholic and committed to Gospel values and enthusiastic in their support of the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Maternity BVM Church.
The business Manager is responsible for the business and financial management of the parish and applies professional skills and knowledge over several specialized fields including accounting, human resources, and other business management skills to perform work without specific direction and uses prudent judgment.
The Business manager is responsible for collaborating with the Finance Committee in managing the finances of the parish and for providing reports and preparing a budget. Further, the Business Manager collaborates with parish staff and parish committees in overseeing ministry budgets and working with the director of maintenance to manage buildings, grounds and equipment.

Qualifications
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or above with concentration in business.
Knowledge of Accounting Principles
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Willingness to use the accounting software used by the Diocese of Joliet
Willingness to use software that is standard in the Parish office.
Willingness to submit to background check
Commitment to safe environment and wiliness to take youth protection training.
Enthusiasm for the mission, vision, and values of Maternity BVM Church.

Ability to present oneself professionally

Ability to set priorities and effective organization skills
Possess strong communication skills written and oral
Ability to be flexible for tasks outside of normal business hours
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years experience in business management, accounting or related fields
Advanced degree in Business Administration
ACCOUNTING DUTIES
Account Receivables
Make Deposits
Assist Money Counting teams
Manage ACH Donations, submit ACH file to bank monthly Accounts Payable
Pay Invoices and keep records of payments
Split the Pot Raffle – Pay Winners, prepare Federal & State Reports
Administrator of Parish Credit Card
Annual Reports – Federal & State – W2Gs, ST-1, 1099s, W3s
Payroll – Prepare 24 payrolls per year, manage updates, Keep Vacation & Sick Time Records
General Ledger
Make all Journal Entries- using ParishSoft
Prepare Yearly Budgets in conjunction with Finance Committee
Produce Reports for: Pastor, Finance Committee, Parish Council, Diocese, Parishioners, Bulletin
Manage & Reconcile Bank Accounts
Attend Parish Finance Committee meetings to present financial reports
Assist Diocesan Auditors in audits
Organize & store documents to meet legal requirement
HUMAN RESOURCE DUTIES
Liaison between parish employees and Diocese HR Department
Workers Compensation
Maintain Personnel Records
Liaison to Christian Brothers – 403(b) and Pension
PARISH LAISION TO I.T. PROVIDER
Contact Person for IT Provider; coordinate & schedule all IT updates, service calls, purchases
Consult on contracts for IT Provider
Administrator for: PDS, WeShare, Stripe, Martin Whalen
OTHER DUTIES
Attend 3-4 Diocesan Business Manager Meetings per year & report back to staff
Telephone Service
Insurance Contact – Catholic Mutual
Maintain various maintenance contracts
Report on activity of Catholic School Families
Purchasing of large items
Work with Parishioners, Heads of Committees, Salespersons, Parish Council, Finance Committee Members, etc.
Assist Pastor in Administrative Matters
Occasional Evening and weekend hours
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Business Manager reports to the Pastor.
Further, the business manager collaborates with the pastor in reporting to the finance committee. The Finance Committee will review parish financials and advise the pastor and business manager in all important business and financial decisions, including budgeting.
